The Ormskirk Folk Dance Club has been in existence in Ormskirk for more than sixty years. The club was founded in 1950 by local headmaster George Harrison. He continued as club chairman for
50 years.

Model boat building; It's not airfix and it's not kits; it's building from scratch, scaling down from life size measurements. Gerry Long builds boats from cardboard and calls it "cardboard engineering". Gerry worked the Cunard Liverpool to New York route as a Pastry Chef back in the fifties and recalls the 'Liverpool Yanks' bringing back American clothes, music and accents to Liverpool. Ernie Price makes model boats for his grand kids. He was a fitter at the Montrose shipyard and developed a passion for model boat building after working on some of the famous Royal Navy ships of the last generation.
